The central area of the Brecon Beacons is
where the park takes its name from, and is by far the
most popular. It boasts the highest summits and
the most spectacular cliffs. They are home to
Pen y Fan, the highest summit in South Wales, visited by
countless walkers who've worn a huge a huge groove in the
landscape nicknamed "the motorway". These hills are
bounded on the north by steep cliffs, which make for
an excellent high level walk.
